Synopsis: What if Murphy's Law "Anything can go wrong will go wrong" graces its presence on true love? Our two leads who are both abandoned by their other half on the same night, meet each other again years later, but now our heroine is a love doctor while our hero helps his clients to celebrate their breakups.
Murphy's Law of Love Episode 1-2 Summary
(Top Left: Hero, Ji Jia Wei. Top Right: He Zhi Yu, hero's ex-girlfriend.
Bottom Left: Heroine's ex-boyfriend. Bottom Right: Heroine, Guao Xiao Tong)
On the night when Jia Wei and Xiao Tong respectively thought they would become engaged to their other half, their dreams are both dashed. Tipped off by Jiw Wei's friend that he is going to propose that night, Zhi Yu, Jia Wei's beautiful model girlfriend calls him and refuses his proposal on the phone. In the mean time, Xiao Tong sits at a lavish dinner happily expecting her boyfriend's marriage proposal but instead she is told that her boyfriend is going to marry some rich lady his family has chosen for him.
Unbeknownst to Jia Wei, Zhi Yu actually changes her mind and tries to rush to the place he has set up for his marriage proposal. However, Zhi Yu ended up getting into a car crush with Xiao Tong's boyfriend and Jia Wei loses all contact with Zhi Yu.
Heart broken by his girlfriend's repeated refusal of his proposal, Jia Wei walks by a equally heart broken Xiao Tong who has passed out from drinking. Taking note of Xiao Tong's drunken muttering of not receiving her expected proposal that night, Jia Wei puts the ring bought for his girlfriend by Xiao Tong.
A couple years later, thanks to her heart break, Xiao Tong becomes "Doctor Love" after getting her psychology degree and working in a matching making company.
Taking the extreme opposite from Xiao Tong's method to get over her past, Jia Wei opens an agency to help unhappy couples to celebrate their breakup after Zhi Yu (ex-girlfriend) disappeared without a trace. With their companies right across the street from each other, Xiao Tong and Jia Wei start to butt heads every time they see each other... which is often.
Despite Xiao Tong's vow to avoid Jia Wei at all cost, Murphy's Law works its magic and Jia Wei becomes the ideal candidate for her company's matching making event. Order by her boss to get Jia Wei to agree to participate in their public event no matter what, Xiao Tong has no chance but to start chasing Jia Wei around.
Openly sneering at Xiao Tong's title as "Dr. Love", Jia Wei acts arrogantly towards her whenever they meet. However, Xiao Tong's love doctor advice apparently doesn't sound as ridiculous as Jia Wei keeps saying since he couldn't help himself and starts asking Xiao Tong (on her website) questions about his inability to fall in love after his breakup with his ex.
Totally ignorant that she has been giving Jia Wei advice online, Xiao Tong follows Jia Wei to a riding park while he is out riding with his buddies in order to bug him about entering into her company's match making event. Xiao Tong and Jia Wei end up competing on their bikes in order to settle the matter once and for all.
Of course Murphy's Law happens... or rather the magic of the drama land happens and Xiao Tong falls on top of Jia Wei resulting in a kiss.
Kinda of cute... but a bit too predicable and slow at least for the first two episodes. I am really hoping that the show will pick up the pace now that most of the set ups are done. The two leads does have chemistry together but not quite enough to keep my attention if the story doesn't kick it up a notch.
They did introduce the second male lead in episode 2, a restaurant owner who Xiao Tong assumes is just a waiter briefly but nothing happens beyond that Xiao Tong took note that Zi Yan (the second male lead) seems to fit the image of the ideal man she keeps preaching about. I am assuming Xiao Tong is going to have to choose between Zi Yan, the man who fits her ideal and Jia Wei who is obviously ... not. Judging from our hero's personality and the show's promo though, I think Jia Wei is going to keep too close of a watch on Xiao Tong to allow the second lead to have any chance with her.
