Drama: My Daughter, Geum Sa Wol (내 딸, 금사월)
Airs: Saturday & Sunday
Well... the first two episodes was NOTHING like I expected. The show had put out two trailers that were very different in flavor. The first trailer was pretty angsty with lots of screaming, but the second one was really light and fun. The trailers are at the end of this post. Meshing the two trailers together I was expecting My Daughter, Geum Sa Wol to be mostly about bright young romances but with flash backs to the older generation's past that will reveal some dark secrets.
Boy, was I wrong! The first two episodes of My Daughter, Geum Sa was all angst with no bright young faces anywhere to be found. I am assuming that we will eventually get the young romances once the show is done with setting up the back story... but I am not sure my interest can hold up until that time.
Not to say the story was horrible or that the acting was bad, but it was just such a predicable plot of a naive girl who trusted the wrong man and ends up losing everyone she loves dearly. Risking in sounding really shallow again, I kinda wish the show didn't choose to use ... um... rather mature actors to play these first two episodes since it was really distracting that the actors and actress were obviously at least 20 years older than they should've been.
So by the end of the first two episodes, My Daughter, Geum Sa Wol is shaping up to be an all out revenge plot since the naive "girl" has come to realize in the cruelest way possible that her husband is actually the one that made her family lose everything. Sigh...
I haven't lost all hope on this one though. I think I might check back in a couple weeks and hopefully the angsty backstory would have all been set up and the show would introduce the fun.
