Beauty for the Filling Q&A

 Beauty for the Filling Q&A
There has been a few request for recaps on Beauty for the Filling since subs on this one is hard to find. Unfortunately since Beauty has already finished two seasons, it will be insane for me to attempt to recap it right now. So in view of that I figure I would try a Q & A post to let people (especially for those who are watching it raw) to post questions about the show in the comments. The questions could be about the plot or even conversations between the leads. If you would like to have a specific translation on a particular conversation then do post the episode number and the minutes.

Question #1: In episode 6 season 1, how come Jin Xi doesn't get hypnotized when she interrogating the culprit in the rape case? Something about she spin the coin and suddenly we know that she just pretend in front of him.
Not an expert on this at all, but it looks like when it comes to hypnosis sound is pretty vital and at least in dramas (such as this one and Legend of the Blue Sea) making a noise to capture the target's attention is the first step to hypnotize them. The show doesn't explain why Jin Xi wasn't hypnotized by the criminal but just that she was able to fool him into thinking she was hypnotized then counter hypnotize him by using a coin. I do think it make sense that our heroine didn't fall prey to the criminal's attempt to hypnotize her since she is after all an expert in psychology and the man was just a novice who usually has to rely on drugs as an aid when he hypnotized his victims. In this case, the criminal wasn't able to drug Jin Xi first since they were after all in the police station so it was really a desperate attempt on the man's part.

Bonus swoon worthy scene:
Han Chen is about to leave Jin Xi's department for good but instead of telling her, he purposefully whispers "Bai Jin Xi, I am leaving. Goodbye." when he knew perfectly well that she is too focused on reading her case files to hear him. That gaze...melt...
Question #2
In season 2, when that d guy who can hypnotize I think killer K, doesn't know how their leader 'S' looks like? Does any from d killers know how their leader looks like? Also do all d killers know Jin Xi? in d theme song it showed that she was hypnotized to forget, is it so?coz due to d spoilers floating online and d opening theme we know who d leader is.
By chance have u read d whole book?

There are definitely hints, especially in the case of Killer K that he paid extra attention to Doctor Xu (the forensic doctor) that suggests he might know/guessed Doctor Xu's real identity as S. However, I personally still lean towards the theory that the members of the Letter Group have never seen their leader's (S) face.

It does seem like all of the members are aware who Jin Xi is. According to the hero's speculation, Jin Xi pretended to be a psycho killer in order to go undercover in the Letter Group five years ago, so it would make sense that all the members would know her if that speculation was true.

From a few hints from the first season and the dying words of the girl that had a crush on the hero, my guess is that the two leads weren't hypnotized but they were administered some sort of drug to make them forget their past.
No, I haven't read the novel yet...but is thinking about it.

Question 3:
I understood every convo except for the beginning of ep 12 when that guy who had that chip said something to Jin Xi at the bridge before he jumped and she was surprised WHAT DID HE SAY?? Was it about the past?
Remembering back in episode 10 when Jin Xi and Killer K had hypnotized each other in the police station's interrogation room? Thinking Killer K had been hypnotized by her, Jin Xi asked him about a note they had found during their investigation of the rapist. Jin Xi quoted the first few sentence of the note which was from the Bible and was excited when Killer K started to finish the quote. However, once Killer K finished the Bible part of the quote he was able to snap out of it and start attacking Jin Xi instead. Since Killer K only finished the Bible quote Jin Xi had mention without saying what's on the rest of note (which only the real accomplice to the rapist would know), there was nothing Jin Xi could do to Killer K even if she was already 99% sure he was the real baddie behind the rapist.
Going forward to episode 12, Killer K is about to jump off the bridge but before he does he looks at Jin Xi and recites the rest of the quote from the rapist case "My life was already over... until I met him, that's when my life truly ignited." This of course prove once and for all that K was the real master mind behind the rapist case.

Question 4:
Please explain the first season's hunting group. Obviously most of them were bad people in some way. But two groups of gang rapists seems a bit much. Did the person who created the game bring the groups together?

I totally agree with you about the two two groups of rapist gang seem a bit much. I really dislike it when drama makes their world so bad that everyone would be better off huddling in fear at home.
Anyhow personal pet peeve on plot device aside, it would be easier to explain this one chronologically. During one of his flight from the police, Killer T was badly hurt and that was when he was rescued by a kind man. The kind man turned out to be Assistant Liu (assistant to the half crazy professor) who had landed himself in a very desperate situation after he hired a few relatives from his hometown. Furious that his relatives are not only raping the professor's subjects but killing the girls afterwards, Assistant Liu hates himself even more for his inability to stop it. Knowing full well that his own life might very well be in danger the moment he stands up to his relatives, Assistant Liu begs the still weak Killer T to rescue a girl that has been kidnapped by the men. Wanting to repay Assistant Liu for saving his life, T agrees but by the time he got to the girl (and had an extremely long conversation with her), Assistant Liu has already been killed by the baddies and the victim had given up all hope. Telling T to escape by himself, the girl instead asks T to exact revenge on everyone that had a hand in pushing her into this tragic situation (so that included her teammates who raped her, the ones who refused to help her, then finally Assistant Liu's relatives). T gets away, and the girl is of coursed killed.
Time jump to years later, T finally sets up an intricate plan fulfill his promise to the rape victim by gathering everyone that had wronged her in one place. So that was a really long answer to your question but in short, the first time the poor rape victim just ended up meeting two groups of scumbags by chance but the second time with our two leads around it was a set up by Killer T.

Question 5:
Can you explain the nature of T and K life before they were recruited to become a serial killer?
T: When T was 10 years old, he set his own house on fire because he couldn't take his step-father's abuse anymore. The show doesn't explain how S saved him but little T woke up to S offering to teach him the art of killing.

K on the other hand was a Ph.d student in psychology that could never get his professor father's approval since his father saw clearly how twisted his son was. There was one particular scene where K was happy at first that his father had read his Ph.d dissertation until his father angrily yells at him for traumatizing his test subjects (who were also collage students) simply for his own goal. Frustrated that everyone around him in the psychology academia field refuses to see his greatness, K finally felt understood when S showed up.

Question 6:
So why were d two leads not killed but made to forget? I can understand Jinxi was not killed as 'S' was in love with her but why was d hero let go?
Why were all d killings stopped after both leads lost their memories but why after so long started again?
The show hasn't explained yet why Han Chen wasn't killed but my personal guess is that since E was crazy in love with our hero that might be why he was kept alive. E had grown up with Han Chen and had this really crazy possessive love towards our hero since she was little. In fact, E was recruited by S while she was plotting to kill Jin Xi back when the two leads were in love five years ago. E had hoped that once Han Chen forgets Jin Xi then she would have a chance with him but of course our hero just ended up searching for a mysterious fiancee and ignoring her.

The killing stopped because all the surviving killers were trying to keep a low profile after the big confrontation with the police five years ago. The killing started when T insisted on finishing his revenge plan despite E's repeated reminder that they shouldn't be drawing the police's attention.
My other guess is that these are psycho killers after all so five years were a long time for them to not go on a killing spree. There was one scene when E and T arrive at a house to find K sipping wine leisurely while two men laid dead a short distance from him. Guessing right away that K had hypnotized the two men into killing each other, a very frustrated E complains to K that they are suppose to be lying low. Now, there are plenty of references from all of the killers that there is suppose to be a "big plan" but I am assuming that one will be revealed in season 3.

Question 7:
In season 2, how did d hero manage to find her true identity in d police records? as they were restricted to access d files in d computer. Also no one knew she was undercover? as his friends think bad of her as her reputation is tarnished
Backtracking a bit, Han Chen had learned that Jin Xi's real name is actually Su Mian. Jin Xi was a young detective that resembled our heroine. The show didn't explain this part yet, but from the various clues such as Han Chen's friends telling him that they found a dead body matching Su Mian's DNA I am assuming that the dead body actually belongs to the real Jin Xi.

Back to the initial question. Han Chen had gone to two different police academy at different occasions. The first time he was trying to find Jin Xi's record. While all the records were destroyed in a fire, Han Chen found an instructor that remembered Jin Xi and even had a picture of her (although it was just her back). The second time, our two leads went to look for records on Su Mian but there were none. The fact that the police academy had no record on our heroine was how Han Chen guessed that Su Mian must've went undercover since that's the only time they would wipe all traces of someone's name in the academy.

One of Han Chen's friends had seen a top secret file in his dad's office that detailed the fact that Su Mian had gone undercover in the letter killer group but then ended up becoming a psycho killer herself. Since this was really embarrassing to the police department, the higher ups had made sure Su Mian's name was buried.

Han Chen's friends also recounts how Su Mian had broke up with Han Chen five years ago in order to go out with rich guys so that was also a big reason why they hated Su Mian. Placing his trust in our heroine, Han Chen tells his friends that Su Mian must have broke up with him to go undercover but of course his friends were not convinced.

Question 8:
In season 2, what does T say last to both leads before he shoots himself? This makes d hero start doubting about Jinxi is connected to his past. Also why did a killer enter d ambulance to do what to T's body? Was it E?
For S (doctor Xu) Jinxi is more important than his clique of killers? Your POV :)
P.S - Thanks for answering so patiently all these questions <3 br="">
T: "Han Chen, You are stronger than you were five years ago."
Hero: "What did you say?"
T smiles "Sorry, I used an underhanded method to win over you that time. Oh, and your fiancee too."
Widening his eye in disbelief when he heard T mentioned his fiancee, Han Chen yells "Where is she?! Tell me where my fiancee is?!"
Amused by how desperate Han Chen is, T laughs "I am not going to tell you," then promptly kills himself.
So, T actually doesn't give any verbal clues that would tell our hero Jin Xi is his long lost fiancee but since everyone there were either T's revenge targets or like himself someone that was involve in the big case five years ago, Jin Xi obviously would fit in the second category ⇒ Jin Xi could possibly be his fiancee. I know, it's a bit of a stretch...
I personally prefer the second reason our hero based his hunch on. If you remember, after T was killed both leads were injured so badly that they both ended up in the hospital. Jin Xi was very worried about Han Chen's injury but she was all huffy when she saw him again. Han Chen's reaction to T's words was plenty proof to Jin Xi that he is obviously still very much in love with his "fiancee" so she was angry at him for leading her on. Unable to explain his gut feelings to Jin Xi, Han Chen kisses her and tells her that the familiar feeling of their kiss is one of the reason he thinks that she might be his fiancee.

E was the one in the ambulance and she was there to get the chip from T's body. Looks like everyone is the letter killer group has a chip in their body but K took his out.

In my opinion there seems no doubt that Jin Xi is a whole lot more important to S than his band of killers. As K pointed out to both E and T before, S had abandoned them for Jin Xi.

Your welcome!

  10. Thanks for answering!!! Yay! season 3 has started!!!! Now we ll see how Jinxi became so important to both guys!!! Lol, both guys cross every boundary for her! both guys lose their respective logic when it comes to her!
So had S instructed d other killers not to touch Jinxi or harm her? If K had managed to hurt her, S would have gone crazy right? So that is why how ever much, E hated her, she could not do anything to her? The other killers dont hate S for abandoning them for Jinxi or dont they blame Jinxi for all of this?
