Friday Drama Round Up #100

Ninja's Friday Drama Round Up #100
Shopping King Louie (Korean Drama)
I am on the fence about this one after watching the first two episodes. Seo In Guk's role is pretty hilarious so far but I am not feeling too much emotional pull from the story for some strange reason. Just for Seo In Guk's sake though I am going to give this one at least another couple episodes and cross my fingers that once the story gets going in earnest it will pull me in.

Friday Drama Round Up #99

Ninja's Friday Drama Round Up #99
Proud of Love (Chinese Web Drama)
Checked out the first episode of Proud Love by youku.com and I was pleasantly surprised by it. I am going to need a few more episodes to make a judgement on this one but at least the first episode went well enough for me to stick around. This one is a fantasy school romance about our cool and aloof hero whose life is turned up side down when his soul is suddenly switched with the heroine's.

Blow Breeze Episode 5-8 Recap & 2nd Impression

Blow Breeze Episode 5-8 Recap by Ninja
Shocked to find out from Mi Poong that his childhood friend (heroine's brother) and her father both died during their escape from North Korea, Jang Go gives Mi Poong a picture from his school days so she could at least have one picture of her brother. Sobbing uncontrollably as she holds the picture tenderly, Mi Poong thank Jang Go for allowing her nephew to have a chance to see what his father looks like.

Friday Drama Round Up #98

Ninja's Friday Drama Round Up #98
Sparrow (Chinese Drama)
Li Yi Feng's new spy thriller set in 1940s China. I checked out the first two episodes and boy, it was pretty intense. Sadly, I am not really in the mood for a historical spy drama right now...so I am going to pass on this one.

Friday Drama Round Up #97

Ninja's Friday Drama Round Up #97
FantastiC (Korean Drama, New)
Joo Sang Wook's new wacky romance about a famous actor trying to catch the eyes of a script writer (heroine, played by Kim Hyun Joo) who only thinks of him as a good looking guy with no acting skills.
I have loved most of Joo Sang Wook's dramas in the recent years so I was especially excited to see him and Kim Hyun Joo paired up. After watching the first two episodes it is a bit difficult to describe the show's vibe. The show has an obvious strong comedic feel to it...but it also deals with some very heavy topics. For example, right off the bat we find out the heroine has cancer. That's already a fairly depressing premise to start with, but then we add in more frustrating circumstances both in her work place and around her best friend. By the way, the secondary character's story played by Park Si Yeon actually seems really intriguing so that's one big thumbs up for the show.
Despite all the depressing plot lines though, the show is quite fun and I liked the first two episodes enough that I will give it a few more weeks before I decide on this one.

Lee Sang Woo & Kim So Yeon A Couple In Real Life!!!

Ahh...It's always so nice as a fan to see the leads you loved in a drama becoming real life couples. I have been so mired in Just One Smile Is Very Alluring it took me until this morning to find out the exciting news that Lee Sang Woo and Kim So Yeon have officially admitted that they are a couple. Apparently after 8 months of filming Happy Home together, the onscreen sparks have carried on after the drama wrapped up.

Friday Drama Round Up #96

Ninja's Friday Drama Round Up #96
Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop (Korean Drama, New)
Out of all the new K-family drama out right now, this one seems to be doing the best right off the bat. The show has a fun wacky vibe but it's way too early for me to tell if this one is a winner yet since we are just at the story set up stage. The two leads actually start off both married to different people so I am assuming it will take at least a few more weeks to make them single again. Anyhow, definitely on my "wait and see" list.
